2012

11/12 – Congratulations to Terry for being chosen to present his research at the 2013 National Collegiate Research Conference at Harvard University.

11/12 – Rebecca, Cole, Mark and Steve present at the Fall 2012 MRS meeting.

09/12 – We welcome Alex Krick, a new PhD student, to the group. Alex received his BS in Physics from Temple University, where he worked on superconducting films in Prof. Xiaoxing Xi’s group.

09/12 – We welcome Amber Choquette, a new PhD student, to the group. Amber received her BS in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, where she worked on complex oxide films in Prof. Lane Martin’s group.

09/12 – Congratulations to Erwin Fernandez for successfully defending his MS thesis (“Control of photoexcited carrier dynamics via A-site isovalent substitution in LaFeO3perovskite thin films”) obtained through the Materials for Energy Storage and Conversion program.

08/12 – Congratulations to Mark Scafetta for successfully defending his thesis proposal.

06/12 – We welcome Dr. Eun Ju Moon, who has joined the group as a postdoctoral researcher.

05/12 – Cole has been selected to attend the National School on Neutron and X-ray Scattering this summer at Argonne and Oak Ridge.

03/12 – Steve has received an ARO Young Investigator award to investigate novel electronic behavior in symmetry mismatched oxide heterostructures.

03/12 – Steve has co-authored an invited review article on octahedral behavior in complex oxide heterostructures. The article, written with James Rondinelli and John Freeland, appears in the March 2012 issue of MRS Bulletin.

02/12 – Steve has received a NSF CAREER award to investigate the relationship between atomic structure and electronic properties in complex oxide semiconductors.
